Dayna Goldberg is a parent of a kid with SM, as well an elementary school teacher with 25 years of experience with the general and special education population. Her daughter was diagnosed with SM at age 3 when she completely stopped talking, including to her immediate family for almost 4 months. Dayna and her family have been working with The Child Mind Institute for the past 5 years. Through intensives, multiple Brave Buddies programs, group therapy, individual therapy, school visits and a lot of patience, her daughter is now speaking with anyone who will listen! During family group training sessions at Brave Buddies, Dayna has spoken at length with many CM families regarding the IEP process and school services. As an educator, Dayna is an advocate of educating other school staff about SM.
