Emellia “Mia” Nguyen, LMHC-A, is a licensed mental health counselor associate specializing in anxiety disorders in children and adolescents, with a clinical focus on Selective Mutism across the school-age range. She holds a Master of Science in Applied Child and Adolescent Psychology from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with a minor in Bioethics. Prior to her practicum at Brave Seattle, she served two years as a Pediatric Mental Health Specialist at Seattle Children’s Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine Unit.

Mia’s clinical training includes CBT, ERP, PCIT-SM, PCIT, and behavioral parent training. She brings a practice-informed perspective to the systemic challenges that arise when translating PCIT-SM into educational settings, including navigating district-level barriers, supporting generalization of gains, and improving coordination between outside clinicians and school teams. She collaborates actively with schools to design and implement intervention plans, and is passionate about early intervention that helps young people build confidence and navigate their world. As a Vietnamese-speaking clinician, she brings a culturally responsive lens to her work with youth and families. She continues to work under the supervision of Dr. Tracey Ward, PhD and Dr. Megan Frye, PhD, at Brave Seattle.
